Claude was designed by Annika Frye and made in a DIY-rotational molding machine. It was originally a test shape that was designed to experiment with the combinations of different colors and plaster. The lampshade is made from polymer plaster. To create the shade, a mold is filled with plaster and then rotated, causing the plaster to stick to all parts of the mold creating a thick edge. The seam of the cast is still visible in the product, as are the irregularities of the casting process.
